TotalEnergies

Working and surveying in unpredictable offshore conditions require reliable, world-class technical expertise.

LE34 helps TotalEnergies quality-assure platforms and pipelines, ensuring that extraction is based on valid data.

Quality and precision under control

Oil extraction is a continuous process of development in which existing drilling rigs are moved and new installations and platforms are established. Our role is to carry out surveying and quality control so that the platforms are positioned precisely and correctly. LE34 has contributed quality control (QC) and positioning to the relocation of more than 150 drilling rigs.

We are also involved when new rigs, platforms and pipelines are established.

Cut from a different cloth

Our chartered surveyors and survey technicians in LE34 Offshore are cut from a different cloth. They have worked offshore since the beginning of their careers and bring experience from complex projects of vital importance to our clients.

Lars Overby, chartered surveyor and offshore specialist, LE34

Our extensive collaboration with Maersk – and now TotalEnergies – spans more than 30 years and speaks for itself. Our strengths are an exceptionally high professional standard, great flexibility, reliable employees and punctuality.

Continuous monitoring and annual inspections

Just as the sea is constantly changing – with waves crashing one day and gently lapping the next – the seabed and the position of offshore platforms change too. Over the past 30 years, the Tyra platform has subsided by five metres. It is therefore essential to maintain a complete understanding of precisely what is happening and why.

LE34 supplies accurate data on the conditions through the thorough control surveys our chartered surveyors and survey technicians carry out every year.

We use the most advanced surveying equipment and regularly develop new techniques to solve the most complex assignments. We perform annual control surveys of platforms.

Millimetre-precise dimensional control

Every millimetre counts.

We have carried out a large number of dimensional control surveys in connection with renovation and maintenance projects.

Dimensional control is performed both offshore, when a new module is to be positioned, and onshore, when the module is manufactured. We have also carried out dimensional control of many new platform structures, including those for the Halfdan, Tyra South East and Culzean platforms, while continuously providing as-built documentation throughout the process.

End of oil extraction in 2050

The future of oil production in the Danish sector of the North Sea has been decided: production will end in 2050.

The decision was made by the Danish Government and a parliamentary majority in December 2020. The agreement includes:

• A final end date in 2050

• Cancellation of the eighth and all future licensing rounds

• A locally anchored initiative to support development and employment in Esbjerg and the surrounding area

• Removal of the option to apply for permits in the Open Door area, which is three times the size of Zealand

• The remaining rules are fixed, including the continued option of mini-rounds and neighbouring-block licences, all subject to the 2050 end date

• Funding to investigate and prepare the potential storage of CO₂ (CCS) in depleted oil and gas fields

• An analysis of the potential for electrifying production

For LE34, the agreement sets a clear direction for our collaboration with the Danish offshore sector. We can help quality-assure the new installations and technologies being developed. For example, the sector is conducting pilot projects in which CO₂ is injected into depleted oil fields.
